OBSCENE E-MAILS £10,000 PAYOUT
A Bristol PA found work colleagues circulated obscene emails about her. A formal complaint to her employers was not taken seriously so she resigned and made a complaint to the Employment Tribunal for constructive unfair dismissal and sexual harassment. A £10,000 out-of-court settlement was agreed just before the case was heard.
Action   This shows the penalties employers face for failing to install appropriate personnel policies and procedures. It is critical to review and install Electronic Communications Policies, Grievance Procedures and Disciplinary Rules - and moreover to ensure staff training is carried out and updated as necessary.
