Tossing a coin
Don't dice with your organisation's future: ignorance of current employment law can be catastrophic for the unwary
Employment Legislation
THPS began as a personnel Consultancy business in 1999, recognising the growing employer-led demand for outsourced people management support services.

People strategies form the critical factor that differentiates businesses from their competitors.

The cost to you as an employer of preventative proactive action to ensure compliance with employment legislation is much less than the potential compensation that would need to be paid out in the event of a claim.

For a taster of our services please try our employment heath check, or come along to a half-day seminar. You can also book a place at a Personnel Club meeting - further details below.

Facts and figures
Did you know that –
  • An employer was recently fined £10,000 because it had not installed an Equal Opportunity Policy, there was no procedure for an employee to bring a complaint of sex harassment and Equal Opportunity and anti-discrimination training for staff had not been carried out.
  • Regulations allow Employment Tribunals to impose financial penalties on employers where there is either no written statement of the main terms and conditions of employment issued to staff or such details have not been kept up-to-date.
  • The Court of Appeal has warned employers that they must publish their personnel policies and ensure that these are implemented on a day-to-day basis. Because of the substantial amount of recent employment legislation and best practice guidance most employers will need a minimum of some 30 personnel policies!
  • Sickness absence could be reduced by 50% through development of effective processes for managing absence. Stress is now the number one reason behind sick absence from work.
  • Some 30% of all UK Internet users log onto pornographic sites between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. 25% of UK employers face Internet misconduct and an employer recently reported a number of staff to the police because of web pornography.
  • Employers can be found vicariously liable for the behaviour of their employees.
  • There is a powerful relationship between HR/Personnel practices, employee commitment and operating performance. Where effective HR practices are not in place, levels of employee commitment are up to 90% lower.
